The Beautiful Country House (#11)

A house popped-up on Craigslist, for-sale-by-owner. They were going to have an open house on a Sunday afternoon. Bob was busy working, so I had to take the kids. It USED TO be on 26 acres, but they sold-off the 20 acres the year before (DARN!) There was land on either side that could be purchased (if the owners were willing to sell) that could bring the property from 6 up to 15 acres. Bob really wants 10+ acres.

The house was "5 bedrooms". The master was upstairs (not a big deal.... with my knees in their current middle-age condition). The downstairs did not have a "family room". There was a library/den but it was pretty small. No basement. But it was BEAUTIFULLY finished. It looked so much like a historical home, but with 21st century updates. The windows were high-quality but had that historic home look (skinny and with the one vertical line going up the middle - for four squares total). The entry door was old and had the most beautiful doorknob (I know - a weird thing to talk about). It was well-built and well-maintained.

Isn't it charming?

This is the Library/Den. It's on the right when you walk through the front door. There was a Dining room of similar size on the opposite side (no picture). The photo on the right shows the long shotgun-like hallway that led from the front door to the breakfast area. It was a little long (this is looking back towards the front door, and the wall to the left is the staircase upstairs).

The kitchen was beautifully done. Lots of cabinets, amazing appliances (look at that Viking range!)

The pantry was large - the (2nd) fridge is in the corner of it - it had so much room! The laundry room was next to it. It was a walk-through room (door to the back yard), but it was very convenient being almost in the kitchen!

The guest room/first floor bedroom was next to the stairs. The bathroom (so cute!) served as the first floor bathroom. Not much storage, but as long as there's a place to put the extra rolls of toilet paper, it will do!

This is the second floor open area/game area at the top of the stairs. Perfect for kids (make yourselves at home!)

Two upstairs bedrooms.

Master bedroom and bath. These are bad pictures, but the bedroom had high ceilings and the bathroom had a nice shower (no tub), and two closets!

One of the closets!! (mine, of course)

The upstairs "4th" bedroom, which was small compared to the other two.

Eating area off the kitchen, with a nice deck (kids not included. Well....maybe they are if your price is good enough).

Bad pictures of the side and backyard. The wooded area above was actually pretty clear/not many scrub trees/shrubs. The owners used to own a plant nursery, so they had a lot of .... exotic/rare/weird shrubs around the property.

Separate garage with plenty of unfinished storage upstairs.

So charming! Such nice deep porches!
